Betty Boop… Is a Black Women?

 

“Boop Oop A Doop!” is the famous saying we all have heard! Betty Boop is a popular cartoon character introduced to the world by cartoonist Max Fleischer in 1930. Betty Boop is best known for her curvaceous figure, signature vocals, and unashamed sexuality. Betty Boop has gone on to be one of the most known iconic animated figures in the world. While there has been controversy around this lovable character throughout the years, one thing that is unfortunately not that well known about the big-eyed sex symbol and strong feminist was inspired by a real-life African American jazz singer and entertainer from Harlem named Esther Lee Jones. Her stage name was "Baby Esther", unfortunately, when her character became the first and most famous sex symbol in animation. Some say she was whitewashed, some say something equally as bad took place: being based off a white woman who earned her career by being inspired by black artists and pretending she created it, with being met in the middle by most having no idea where the original inspiration came from.

Between being able to get scared, laugh at stupid sh!t, and being able to sit down and be able to get emotional and relate on a heavier note, Movies have always been a safe space. I have always gravitated towards movies with anything involving horror + physiological thinking, comedy, and anything with a prominent diverse/BLK cast (that is coming from a Mexican + ebony individual!). 

i was between 11-13 years old and get out came out which Was when i discovered black horror at my bigger age. Jordan Peels films not just paved the way for black horror for me but also showed me i have a voice at a young age. it [black horror] created a safe environment for me to feel less alone, accommodated to, and like my interests are catered to on a wider scale then just music.

Welcome creeps, freaks, and all undead that are alternate chics! The name is VeeVeeViv (VVV) and you are now viewing my first ever blog! (6 yr old me js screaming on the inside btw.) I have wanted to blog for quite some time now and have done it in various ways throughout the years… although this page is NOT up to my perfectionist selves top of the top performance i could’ve shown off for a first impression, every bit of this needless to say is made out of LOVE! i’m going to still continue to experiment the different platforms moving forward but until then I’m excited to show you guys my works, projects, edits and so on. In this blog you will find a variety of many different topics such as, (horror+) media, reviews/recommendations , body modifications, the alternative lifestyle + JUS REAL LIFE, fashion, makeup, travel, DIY, and much more! ( ◜◡༎ຶ). Im a full time CSW (18+ topics will only be talked about in Ratex X posts.), this blog is just one of the various ways for me test out my various skill(s) while leaving plenty of room for improvement, as well as being able to do something I’ve adored for the longest.

And of course I will in fact be yappin your ears off duhhh! Granted I most likely will be slow when posting when starting out because of a few factors… such as my craft comes before my hobbies! And mainly just trying to organize as well as manage my projects properly so that everything is up to my standards and yours! With that said, please do engage ! its all very much hugely appreciated!
