three black upcoming horror thrillers ‘six

I had just seen that the trailer for scary movie six had came out and I had to stop everything I was doing and forced my baby papa to watch the shi with me. Then I had came across another new upcoming black movie and I couldn’t resist to write about it, looked wayyy to good not to share. :P

I had knew scary movie was coming out months prior and wanted to write about it. I had came up with a whole bunch of ideas that steered into the new movie but it wasn’t ever a whole movie lineup article. Finally after months of not knowing how to tie it into an article and not writing, with the start of the new year, I thought this would be the perfect way to start our new year together! I hope you all enjoy this and it’s going to be yes informational but I’m trying to go for a more I’m talkin to you narrative as well, I thought I was doin that before and it was barely eveeerrr. so I hope yall enjoy the switch up style and enjoy the article!

First things first imma be doing these in release order! Starting off strong, the upcoming horror-action-triller-comedy, starring Zazie Beetz, They Will Kill You. This film follows a cleaner in NYC-high rise who fights a satanic cult. This movie gives us an action packed, gore, n blood soaked filled survival night film with a strong black woman protagonist. This trailer had me excited and absolutely glued to the TV. This movie is set for theater release March 27th 2026.

Is God Is, is our second upcoming-film this year based on Aleshea Harris's play. Starring Kara Young, Mallori Johnson, Janelle Monáe, Vivica A. Fox, and Sterling K. Brown. This film on theme follows along with the perfect mix of suspense, triller, and dark humor. Focusing on sisterly devotion as a weapon for justice, this film follows a two twin sisters on a revenge quest to murder their father, who burned the as children. This film hit a special place in my heart since my sister is my best friend and I would quite literally do anything for her. This film had really reminded me the importance of black sisterhood and how much we need our sisters and our black sisters. This film is set for theater release may 15th 2026.

Last but not least what is set to release shortly after, my favorite upcoming, Scary Movie 6. Instantly I had fell in loveee with this movie as soon as I heard the writers before I even seen the trailer. Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez. I wasn’t that head over heels for the previous scary movie in the franchise so I’m excited to see the new writers and what they show since I’ve already loved their other work. I digress, this movie follows a shit ton of parodies and honestly some I’ve been WAITING to be parodied. So far the trailer shows M3gan, Terrifier 3, The Substance, Smile, Weapons, Halloween, Longlegs, Scream and my favorites Ma, Get out, and Sinners. We didn’t just get all these caught up parodies we also got 2000s “offensive” n raunchy humor back as well as the original cast (Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Chris Elliott) back and I’m so excited to see how this shows and even more excited to watch this in the on the big screen. This horror spoof is set for theater release June 12th 2026.

I’ve been waitinggg for some black horror films to come around and I will take it in any form I can get (spoof films included odvi lol). I’m curious to know, out of this list, which film you are currently excited for and or what are you hoping to see in the future with black horror?
